Melissa is a special education teacher who has completed extensive training with a focus on structured literacy and evidence-based practices.

Melissa holds a Master of Arts degree in Education from Mount Saint Joseph University, an IDA accreditation plus level program. Melissa obtained OG certification and a Reading Science certificate from Mount Saint Joseph.

Melissa also holds Education Specialist and Reading and Literacy Leadership Specialist credentials from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and is an active special education teacher.

With over ten years of experience as a special education teacher in the public school system, ranging from transitional kindergarten through fifth grade, Melissa has considerable experience working with children with language-based learning disabilities, dyslexia, struggling readers, and neurodiverse students. She strongly believes that literacy is a basic human right, is obtainable, and should be enjoyable.

Melissa is an active member of the International Dyslexia Association and The Reading League chapter in California.
