I am practicing educator since 2008. I currently teach first grade, but I have experience teaching all grade levels, primarily first grade, and five years teaching second grade.I have taught first and second grade general ed, special ed, ESL, and Tier 3 students. I graduated from Kean University in 2008 with a B.A. in English and Special Ed. K-12, minor in Psychology, a P-3 Certification, and my M.A. in Instruction and Curriculum K-5. I also took American Sign Language courses at the community college level.
I completed my post- masters certification as a reading specialist at Kean University in 2015.

I’ve had the honor to publish articles in The New Teacher’s Guide to Overcoming Common Challenges; Curated Advice from Award Winning Teachers. I’ve also had articles published in the Teacher Advocate journal with KDP (focus on literacy,) Scholastic Parent and the NJEA Review. I’ve presented for various organizations such as KDP, The Teaching Channel/Learner’s Edge, Scholastic, Spotlight on Dyslexia, edWeb, and CEC. I’ve been featured on several podcasts such as EduMagic, PowerED Up, and New Teacher Talk.
I am the 2022-2023 Middlesex County Teacher of the Year, and was a top-four finalist for State Teacher of the Year. I’ve also received the Teacher of Honor award from KDP.
I am the recipient of the 2023 Winslow Coyne Reitnouer Excellence in Teaching Award from Learning Ally.
I am an IMSE Orton-Gillingham Certified Educator, and have my CERI Certification as a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist. I have training in Acadience screening and diagnostic testing that I incorporate into my tutoring to help drive instruction.
I am the founder of Ms. M's House of Literacy- Tutoring and Consulting. I tutor students individually and in small groups using structured literacy methods. I have been using IMSE’s multisensory methods since 2015.
I am a lifelong learner who always continues to train, read, research, and network to help me become a better tutor for my students and stay current with the latest evidence-based practices.
