Provider Bio

Kim specializes in instructional support for children with learning differences. She holds a PhD from the University of Maryland in Learning Disabilities and currently works as an Educational Therapist and co-owner at District Kids: Center for Minds and Hearts. Prior to her current role, she was the Director of Learning Resources at multiple schools in Washington, DC. She tutors numerous children across the Washington, DC metro area from Kindergarten to college–age in reading, writing, and executive function skills. Kim holds certification as a Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Specialist (C– SLDS) from the Center for Effective Reading Instruction.

Kim authored a chapter in the Handbook of Learning Disabilities about effective instructional models for students with learning disabilities and several articles in peer–reviewed journals. Kim travels to schools across the US to speak on differentiation in literacy and has taught numerous teacher education methods courses at American University and the University of Maryland. When she is not tutoring or working with teachers, you can find her at a playground on Capitol Hill with her sons or in the kitchen cooking for her family.
