She holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and a Master of Education with a Reading Specialist Certification. Over the course of her 16-year career as a teacher in public schools, Katie has worked as a Certified Reading Specialist and Reading Teacher in both elementary and secondary schools. Her hands-on teaching experience includes teaching students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, and other learning differences.

Katie also holds the position of Assistant Professor of Education and also works as a subject matter expert (SME) in the School of Education. She engages with undergraduate students pursuing teacher licensure and tailors her classes to align with the research-based Science of Reading, helping to shape the future educators of tomorrow.
