Provider Bio
Hello! Thank you for visiting my profile. My educational journey began in Ohio, at Ashland University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education with endorsements in Cognitive Impairments and Learning Disabilities. Advancing my education, I earned a Masters degree in Teaching and completed the requirements for Special Education Supervisor from Saginaw Vally State University in Michigan. My vast experience, in public school education, includes teaching special education in Young 5s through 12th grade, 4th grade regular education, Teacher Consultant for LD and CI, and intervention reading specialist. My extensive background includes numerous hours of professional development in the study of dyslexia and effectively teaching explicit systematic instruction. My study of dyslexia and passion for teaching reading led me to complete the SLANT System for Reading practicum earning certification as a Structured Literacy and Dyslexia Specialist. My dedication to individuals with compromised reading skills and empowering them with strategies to encourage reading so they CONFIDENTLY read and build SUCCESS in themselves has proven effective in students to move out of special education into regular education. Given time, resources and practice, learning to read is attainable and life long benefit!
