My name is Casey Kilburn and I am the founder and creator of Roped in Reading. I am a former classroom teacher, now specializing in online tutoring for students needing reading support.

I am an IMSE Certified Orton-Gillingham Instructor, and a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist from the International Dyslexia Association.

My education journey began as a teacher of Multilingual Learners in Honduras and continued in Mexico and Washington, D.C. I have six years of experience working with students in the classroom across elementary and middle school. In 2020, I became increasingly frustrated as I learned about the literacy crisis in our country, and watched each day as this struggle played out with many of my students. I dove into research and became determined to learn more and do better. This led me to evidence-based structured literacy instruction. At Roped in Reading, I firmly believe that ALL children can and will learn to read when given the right instruction and support.
