James KalbStructured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist
Provider Bio
I tutor students to overcome reading challenges including concerns with decoding, spelling, fluency, and reading comprehension. After completing a battery of assessments, I create a custom reading intervention plan for students. I utilize UFLI Intensive Tutoring (an Orton-Gillingham derived approach developed by Professor Holly Lane) and Structured Word Inquiry (SWI), along with other approaches and resources.
I have over five years experience working in private and public schools in Vermont and Kentucky. My graduate education includes a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction through Castleton University and a graduate-level Dyslexia Certificate program through the University of Florida.
In addition to my passion for reading instruction, I am a violinist and fiddler. I love playing classical, jazz, and traditional styles. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, who is a precocious early reader.
