My first job as a Special Education Classroom Teacher came to me the year I graduated from NYU with a Masters in Special Education. I applied for and got accepted into Oxford University, England for the summer so that I could also become certified as an Early Childhood and Elementary Teacher. My first year of teaching, my first classroom in P.S. 191, a public NYC school with 15 6th graders, all who were reading at a pre-k level! I was soo fortunate to have a knowledgable supportive Director of Special Education personally train me to use "Recipe for Reading".

Then one day, in the year 2000, my hero of an Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction handed me a book titled, The National Reading Panel. Little did I know then that 30 years later, the Science of Reading would finally explode to the surface! Yet, there are still few of us that have this accreditation in certain parts of NY.

One of my innate gifts as a Reading/Dyslexia Interventionist is what observers refer to me as a person with a great deal of patience, which is true, but it is really being observant of students' response patterns to adjust my pacing, presentation, and amount of practice given within a lesson framework.

Of course, there are many more parts to teaching children with delays, dyslexia, and other health impairments. Be assured, this is the reason why I am here, a verified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Interventionist by the Center for Effective Reading, a subsidiary of the International Dyslexia Association (IDA). The Association has bestowed this honor on me and we have done all the work so you have the most highly effective and qualified providers here!
