Marilyn Toms has 17 years working as a professional educator. She earned the Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) certification from ALTA in 2020. Marilyn is passionate about helping children learn to read using Brainspring’s Phonics First and Structures Orton-Gillingham-based curriculums. Both Phonics First and Structures are accredited at the Accreditation Plus level through the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) and at the Teaching and Instructor of Teaching level through the International Multisensory Structured Education Council (IMSLEC). Marilyn is also passionate about bringing Phonics First and Structures into schools worldwide by providing Brainspring’s Phonics First and Structures professional development courses to teachers. With expertise in structured literacy, dyslexia, Orton-Gillingham, and the science of reading, Marilyn supports teachers, interventionists, and tutors in creating engaging lessons designed to improve student success in reading, spelling, and writing.
