Candy Maust has been an educator for 32 years serving as a classroom, special education, and intervention teacher. For 17 years, she has served as a teaching principal in a small Maryland district. SHe is currently serving as a Supervisor at the district level. She received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood and Elementary Education at Frostburg State University where she also obtained a Master's of Education in Guidance and Counseling and Administration and Supervision. In her early teaching years, her school district placed content specialists in math, allowing Mrs. Maust to begin focusing on teaching reading. She trained in an Orton-Gillingham approach earlier, then completed a Comprehensive, Intermediate and Phonological Awareness Training through the Institute of Multi-Sensory Education (IMSE). She completed her practicums as well as the Train the Trainer program for the these programs to become a District Trainer to help students of all ages benefit from structured literacy. Mrs. Maust is a Structured Literacy Classroom teacher at her school where she still teaches intervention lessons to students.
