I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama. Presently teaching for Birmingham City School System as a Special Education Collaborative Teacher. I am married to Jeff McCleod for over 26 years.
My educational training start at Tuskegee University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science - Mentally Handicapped, then to Barry University in Miami, Florida, 1991 with a Master of Science - Specific Learning Disability. I earned my National Board for Professional Teachers Standards in Exceptional Needs Specialist/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood in 2014. I continued to specialize in the field and earned the recognition as a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner Level 1 Certification from Wilson Language Training in 2016.
