In my 17 years as an educator, I have been privileged to work with students and teachers in a variety of settings. In 2014, I started my current position as a Reading Teacher and Literacy Specialist at Polaris Expeditionary Learning School working with students K-5. Prior to this I worked as a kindergarten teacher, English as a Second Language instructor for both students and adults, an instructional paraprofessional, tutor and substitute. I earned my Masters in Elementary Education Degree from Regis University (2008) focusing on emergent literacy and reading instruction. I hold a Bilingual Education Certificate (2013), Institute of Multi-Sensory’s Orton-Gillingham Comprehensive Certificate (2020) and a Structured Literacy Classroom Teacher Certificate from The Center for Effective Reading Instruction (2020). In 2018, I was selected to be member of a Poudre School District Reading Cohort. I have training certificates in the Intermediate IMSE Orton-Gillingham, LETRS, and Multi-Sensory Reading Instruction. I have experience in Expeditionary Learning, International Baccalaureate, Core-Knowledge, and teaching diverse populations such as ELD and various socio-economic backgrounds. My belief is that there is no more important job than teaching a child to read.
