My name is Laura Brown and I have been teaching special education at the elementary level for the past 16 years. In addition to my certification as a special education teacher, I am also certified in elementary education to teach in the general education, classroom setting. Through the years, I’ve attended many workshops and professional development and have earned certifications to teach Fundations (level K-3) and I have used my summer vacations to study with Teacher’s College to better familiarize and improve teaching skills for readers and writer’s workshops. I also hold a current classroom educator certification from the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Last year I was enrolled in the rigorous Wilson Reading System level 1 certification program and completed all requirements to earn the title of becoming a Wilson Dyslexia Practitioner. When I’m not teaching or finding ways to improve my instruction, I spend lots of time with my husband, and two kids. We love to spend our time traveling and exploring new places with Hawai’i and California being just two of our favorite places.
