Christine Delmas is a Literacy Consultant and Dyslexia Specialist with 22 years of experience in education as a special education teacher, general classroom teacher, literacy coach, interventionist, workshop presenter, and Orton-Gillingham practitioner. Most recently, Christine has presented workshops throughout New Jersey and the country on the Science of Reading including Using Decodable Text for More than Just Phonics Instruction and Reading Comprehension: Helping Students Extract Meaning from Text at the RPDA. Christine taught students in grades 1 through 6 before becoming a Reading Specialist who helped to establish and coordinate the Response to Intervention (RTI) initiative for her district. She was a district-based presenter as well as statewide presenter specializing in such topics as The Implementation of Targeted Literacy Intervention, Progress Monitoring, and Phonemic Awareness. She was named Monmouth County Teacher of the Year in 2012. She is an endorsed national Language Circle Consultant, proud to be sharing her enthusiasm for Project Read with other educators who want to successfully meet the literacy needs of their students with diverse learning profiles. Christine received a bachelor’s degree from Seton Hall University, a master’s degree in Reading and Supervisor certificate from Rutgers University, and certification as an Orton-Gillingham practitioner, Teacher-Trainer and Dyslexia Specialist from Farleigh-Dickinson University. She has also co-authored an article on reading instruction in a peer-reviewed journal. Christine considers herself a lifelong learner with a vested interest in providing high-quality professional development to prepare all teachers of reading with the knowledge and tools to create proficient readers.
