Provider Bio
Description: With over two decades of teaching experience as an Early Years educator, Reading Resource Specialist, and EAL teacher in both national and international settings, I am dedicated to educating struggling readers through skill-based online tutoring services.
As a Certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Therapist, I passionately advocate for the efficacy of structured literacy interventions to meet the diverse learning needs of my students. My expertise includes Structured Literacy (Orton-Gillingham), the RAVE-O Curriculum from Tufts University, and Lively Letters-Reading with TLC, focusing on phonemic awareness, speech production, and phonics skills.
Every child with dyslexia is unique, so effective remediation begins with evaluating their individual strengths and weaknesses. Children thrive in engaging and enjoyable learning environments where they actively participate using gestures, stories, imagery, and movement. I implement a multisensory learning approach that enhances retention and understanding for all students learning to read and spell.
Testimonial: " As a homeschool parent, Ms. Joy has been wonderful! She is an excellent communicator and collaborator. She is so Knowledgeable about all aspects of literacy and is able to explain and pass that information on, along with being an encyclopedia of books, websites, and other resources. Her passion for what she does shines!"
"The passion Ms.Joy has for teaching and making learning fun is impressive and comforting. When your girls look forward to going to class and ask for more time learning you know you’re on the right track. Our girls are enjoying themselves, and we are happy seeing results in short time frames."
