Heather Baca, M.S., Ed., CCC-SLP, received her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders from The College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, MA, in 1996. She furthered her education and graduated with a Master of Science in Education degree in Speech-Language Pathology at The College of Saint Rose in Albany, NY, in 1999. After graduation, she relocated to Colorado to complete her clinical fellowship, seeking the beauty and outdoor lifestyle it offers. Heather is state-certified in Colorado and has speech-language pathology licensure in New Mexico. She has maintained her profession’s Certificate of Clinical Competence (ASHA) since completing her fellowship year in 2000. Heather’s over 24 years of clinical experience ranges from treating pediatrics to adults. Diagnoses treated include feeding and speech disorders and delays, autism, auditory processing, hearing impairment, apraxia, dysarthria, voice, dyslexia, and traumatic brain injury. She has worked in public schools, early intervention, and private practice settings, including servicing children via speech teletherapy. Heather is trained in PROMPT and Structured Literacy/Orton-Gillingham teaching methodology for reading, spelling, and writing. Her passion for literacy has driven her to pursue well over 100 continuing education hours targeting dyslexia, which is the area she has chosen to specialize in. She completed an 8-month practicum with Yoshimoto International to become a Certified Yoshimoto Orton-Gillingham: Science of Rreading/Learning, Dyslexia Specialist. When not providing speech and language therapy services, Heather can be found playing on her paddleboard on the lake with her two daughters, husband, and loyal dog, Odie. Her other interests include ice skating, biking, watching movies, and reading.
