Amy Stark is a Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist certified by the Center for Effective Reading Instruction. Amy has worked for the Napa Valley Unified School District as a special education teacher for students with Mild to Moderate Disabilities for 20 years. Concurrently, she also worked as a General Education Reading Interventionist for 5 years, and was an Academic Specialist at the site level for 3 years where she worked on setting up assessment systems, coaching, professional development, training, and creating school-wide systems for supporting English Learners. Amy is a Certified Academic Language Therapist through the Academic Language Therapy Association where she was trained in Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia, created by Texas Scottish Rite Hospital. Amy is also certified in the Barton Reading and Spelling System at the beginning level. Outside of her career as a public school teacher, Amy also provides private dyslexia therapy to students outside of school. Amy enjoys camping at National Parks with her family, going on hikes and bike rides, reading books, being a part of book clubs, playing music, and singing. Amy is proud to be a member of IDA, ALTA, and the Reading League and is passionate about reading for ALL!
