Lisa WolfStructured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist

Provider Bio

I had always known that I wanted to work with children. What we learn in our earliest years—about ourselves, about learning, about what’s possible—is critical and I wanted to help children grow into confident, actualized people. I began my career in early childhood and elementary education as a classroom teacher knowing that I wanted to learn the foundations of teaching and then move into supporting students with diverse learning needs. I received two Master’s degrees in education, the first master’s degree from NYU in Early Childhood and Elementary Education, and the second in Learning Disabilities from Columbia University. Additionally, I completed a Behavior Analyst Certification program and I am a Certified Structured Literacy/Dyslexia Interventionist. I worked at Columbia University in teaching and supervising graduate students. I was a classroom teacher for four years, a special education teacher for five years, and the Academic Intervention Coordinator for four years. I am extremely familiar with the AIS, IEP and 504 process and am committed to using my experience to support children and families.

As a parent of children with learning disabilities, dyslexia, anxiety, and ADHD, I understand how vital it is understand your child’s needs and how to advocate for them. I founded Bright*lings because I wanted to return to working with students in a context where I can provide children with the kind of learning experience that is completely reflective of their individual needs. I have always believed that it is the responsibility of the educational providers to ensure that students reach their fullest potential and that can only be achieved if the teachers involved are reflective in their practice and understand a student’s varying strengths and abilities. I have had the privilege of working with students with different learning abilities and dis/abilities including but not limited to learning disabilities, dyslexia, ADHD, autism, executive functioning disorder, and comorbid disorders. My hope is that children have meaningful and engaging learning experiences that allow them to reach their fullest potential and build their confidence as learners.
