My lessons are Individually customized and prescriptive, and diagnostic. Orton Gillingham is not a program or curriculum but an approach that has scientifically proven results and is invaluable when practiced with fidelity.
I have a bachelor's and master's degree in education (curriculum and instruction) and am in the final semester of my Ph.D. In addition, I have completed all three levels of training with the Institute for multisensory education (IMSE), completed my first level of activity with Lexcersise (designed by speech pathologists), and I am a Certified Orton Gillingham tutor with IDA-accredited Orton Gillingham Academy at the Associate Level (which included 65 hours of live training, and a 100 hour supervised practicum with a certified fellow). I am in Certified Training and Practicum with Janet George (training fellow and OGA president). I am also a certified structured literacy/ dyslexia interventionist SLDI with CERI (IDA accredited - center for effective reading instruction).
In addition, I have homeschooled my eight children for 17 years, and they are all honor students, even my children with dyslexia (whom I did remediation with). My oldest is attending college a year early next year with 36 college credits and is studying pre-med at Pensacola Christian College. I am passionate about teaching students with dyslexia and am always working to gain more skills and tools to assist my students better.
