I grew up in the west and after graduation taught in a Special Education classroom serving students with dyslexia. I took time away from the public school to raise my family. After my youngest entered school I taught part-time in Loudoun County Public School. During this time I gained valuable experience teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. In an effort to gain tools to support struggling readers I completed training and an intensive practicum to receive my Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist Certification. I also renewed my teaching license in the state of Virginia. I currently work fulltime as a reading interventionist in a middle school in Loudoun County Public Schools. I also teach students privately using structured literacy tools. I enjoy helping students increase in their confidence and in their reading abilities.
