From 2002 to 2007, I worked as a Resource teacher for a large, urban school district. It did not take me long to realize that most of the students I was serving were dyslexic. I had to find a way to help them read. In 2007, I began my training to become a CALT (Certified Academic Language Therapist), obtaining my license in 2010. Additionally, I have a master's degree in curriculum and instruction and am certified as a Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher. I am also an Educational Diagnostician and have evaluated many students to determine if their reading difficulties were caused by dyslexia. There is nothing more rewarding than helping an individual, child or adult, learn to read. I am retiring from my position as a Dyslexia Specialist for a large school district and am looking forward to providing individual dyslexia therapy.
