Changes to the Application Process for the KPEERI Exam
As of April 2026, the Center for Effective Reading Instruction (CERI) will no longer be overseeing the application process for the Knowledge and Practice Examination for Effective Reading Instruction (KPEERI). All future applications for the exam will need to be submitted with the International Dyslexia Association (IDA) via their website. Any questions or issues related to the application process for the exam, required documentation, or the content of the exam itself should be directed to the IDA. Their staff can be reached either by email at info@dyslexiaida.org or by telephone at (410) 296-0232.
As a passing score is still a prerequisite for applying for any level of CERI certification, individuals seeking certification are required to take and pass the KPEERI exam prior to submitting an Initial Certification Application form or Alternate Route application form via the CERI website. Upon completion of the exam, candidates are able to obtain a copy of their KPEERI Score Report which can serve to document their performance and which will need to be provided along with all other supporting documentation when submitting an application for certification. For questions or issues with obtaining a copy of a KPEERI Score Report, please contact the IDA for further assistance.
For individuals who have previously applied for the exam via the CERI website, all candidate data has been provided to Meazure Learning and individual Notice to Schedule (NTS) emails should have been received at the email address provided during the application process. All questions related to lapsed exam eligibility or exam retake applications should be directed to the IDA. If a prior application through CERI included both the KPEERI exam and some level of CERI certification, please forward a copy of your KPEERI Score Report as an email attachment to info@effectivereading.org. A CERI staff member will include it in your file and complete the process of issuing your CERI certificate.
We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this transition. Any questions related to the certification application process or in regard to a previous application can be submitted either through our Contact Us form or via email to info@effectivereading.org.
