Thomas G. Bordenkircher, Ph.D., is Vice President for Accreditation Relations at the Higher Learning Commission, the regional accrediting agency for 19 states in central portion of the U.S. He received his doctorate in 1989 from the University of Pittsburgh followed by post-doctoral study at the University of Virginia and the University of Dayton. He began his career as a behavioral specialist and classroom teacher before moving into instructional coaching, curriculum supervision, and school administration. His higher education career includes professor of education Antioch University where he was also associate dean, and interim dean. After his job as a scholar at The Ohio State University, he accepted a leadership position at the Ohio Board of Regents as Associate Vice Chancellor for Program Approval, followed by State Director for the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. Dr. Bordenkircher also has many years of experience in education accreditation in a variety of roles with NCATE, TEAC, and now CAEP.
