Emily Binks-Cantrell, Ph.D., is a clinical assistant professor of Reading and Language Arts Education at Texas A&M University, where she is also the Reading and Language Arts Program Area Coordinator and Director of the Texas A&M Reading Clinic. She has served as a consultant for the National Council on Teacher Quality as well as various educational service centers throughout Texas. She has also worked closely with Neuhaus Education Center in teaching, curriculum writing, and new teacher mentoring. Emily’s research and teaching interests include preparation of effective reading teachers and beginning and struggling readers. She is a firm believer that teachers are the most powerful tool in the education system and is passionate about increasing the quality of preparation and support teachers receive in order to meet the diverse needs of their students.
