Erin Washburn

Erin Washburn is an Assistant Professor of Literacy Education in the Graduate School of Education at Binghamton University. She earned her PhD in Literacy Education at Texas A&M University under Dr. R. Malatesha Joshi. Prior to her work in higher education, Washburn was a reading teacher in preschool, middle school and high school settings. Currently, she teaches courses in Literacy Assessment and Instruction and Content Area Literacy to pre-service and in-service teachers, and supervises literacy practicum students. Dr. Washburn has published empirical articles on teacher knowledge of reading-related constructs and literacy-based instructional interventions in peer-reviewed journals in the fields of literacy and special education. She serves on the Editorial Board for The Reading Teacher. She also coordinates supplemental reading programs for struggling readers and writers in local elementary and high schools.
